April 15, 2008Crispy buns with butter and milk

Another good food you can order in cha chan tans is lai yao chu tsai bao (pmp), ie crispy buns with butter and milk. This good snack is served at Tsui Wah, famous restaurant located both in Central (just next to Lan Kwai Fong) and Causeway Bay. Not sure whether it’s a typical Hong Kong meal, but it’s quite nice after a good Gu Lo Yuk or a Gong Tsao Ao Ho :). Tsui Wah even has his own website! I strongly recommend you to enjoy lai yao chu tsai bao (pmp) too!

lai yao chu tsai bao = 奶油豬仔包
It is good!! It becomes one of the popular snacks served in “cha chan tans” just 2-3 years ago.
“Cha chan tan” (茶餐廳)is a typical HK style restaurant and you won’t find such kind of restaurant elsewhere in China or Asia. It serves a wide range of food with high flexibility in a speedy way (bear in mind, HKese is always rushing for time ;-). Sometimes, you can even order some food of which doesn’t exist in the menu.
