Macau: St Paul’s cathedral ruins

On the other side of the Pearl River Delta, 40 minutes boat away from Hong Kong, is Macau, the well-known former Portuguese settlement retrocessed in 1999, two years after Hong Kong, and still benefiting from a high degree of autonomy (”One country, two systems”). Apart from casinos, tourists can admire the ruins of St Paul’s cathedral (see the above picture), the Fortress, the museums or simply walk around in the narrow Meditteranean-like streets and taste crispy grilled pork skin and dry biscuits.
